- Seek God—Not Just Answers Jeremiah 29:13: “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
Fasting is not just about getting answers from God—it is about seeking God Himself. Often the greatest breakthrough of fasting is the clarity and transformation God produces within you.
- Humble Yourself Before God. 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray…”
Fasting is an act of humility. It reminds us that we depend on God more than our natural appetites and places our hearts in a posture of surrender.
- Allow God to examine your heart. Psalm 139:23–24: “Search me, O God, and know my heart…”
Fasting allows God to reveal attitudes, motives, distractions, and areas of our lives that need correction. It becomes a spiritual mirror that brings clarity and growth.
- Don’t Fast for Attention (Matthew 6:16). “Be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance…”
Jesus warned that fasting should not be done to impress people. True fasting is done before God, not as a public display.
- Don’t Continue in Sin While Fasting. Isaiah 58:6–7: “Is not this the fast that I have chosen… to loose the bands of wickedness…”
Fasting must be accompanied by repentance and obedience. Without alignment with God, fasting becomes empty religious activity.
- Expect God To Speak Amos 3:7 “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret…”
Prayer and fasting increase spiritual sensitivity. God often brings clarity, conviction, and direction during seasons of fasting.
- Maintain Faith While You Wait Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him…”
Fasting does not manipulate God. It positions us to receive what God has already prepared while we remain in faith
